With Black Panther winning Best Production and Costume Design at the 2019 Oscars on Sunday (February 24), interest in the MCU’s work behind-the-scenes has never been higher.
So it’s the perfect time for us to look at some seriously early Thanos designs from the Avengers: Infinity War team.
Uploaded to Instagram by Marvel Studio hired artist Jerad Marantz, the early Thanos costume seems an odd choice given what he ended up in – an outfit more equipped to Black Panther certainly, as it’s very reminiscent of T’Challa’s superhero suit.
The concept design is miles away from the purple and gold-plated armour Thanos is seen wearing in the finished movie.
The Infinity Gauntlet itself also had a sleeker, darker look than the gold version we now know and love/have nightmares about.
As for Avengers: Endgame, while Thanos may not be sporting a new look for the movie, the same can’t be said for some of our other favourite Marvel figures.
